Cruise Ships Take The Work From Family Vacations

A dream cruise isn’t just for older persons anymore and the growing family need not resign themselves to staying home and weeding the yard or putting in a new fence for their vacation. Families with babies and toddlers can find dream vacations suited to almost every age group.

A cruise vacation is the chance for the family members to indulge their personal interests and enjoy a vacation while being pampered and waited upon. Family cruises are available that offer activities for toddlers, youth and of course for the parents.

Packing for a family cruise vacation may require a little more in the way of forethought than flying to Paris for the weekend did when there were no children involved but can be just as fun and relaxing as that weekend vacation was.  While family cruise ships offer a wide variety of entertainment for young and old, it is important to remember to pack a favorite toy for the younger set such as a teddy bear or doll since a new bed may be unsettling for the first night or two.

Most family cruises will accept very young children on board but the parents will want to take special care to pack a selection newborn baby clothes, or toddler baby clothes which will not only suit the weather at their point of departure but also be suitable for any stops made on the way. Laundry facilities are often available on family cruise ships which can be a necessity for the parents of toddlers and infants. Extra large designer diaper bags should be chosen for day trips since going back to the ship is often the last thing a parent wants when seeing the sites or enjoying an afternoon’s shopping in an exotic port of call.

Any special baby formulas should be brought on board dry or canned form and in sufficient quantities to last the entire cruise. Special dietary requirements for toddlers may need to be arranged at the same time as the cruise is booked and should be discussed with the booking agent to give ample time for preparation.

Family cruise ships will normally present food choices that appeal to adults indulging themselves as well as foods that may appeal to the more basic tastes of young children and teens.  Many cruise ships also offer on board shopping opportunities and there are almost always shops available at the ports of call. If for some reason the parent finds they forgot to pack enough changes of newborn baby clothes, their designer diaper bags are not large enough, or they simply want to purchase some cute new baby clothes, teen jeans or a dress for mom, there will be ample opportunity to do so either on board or at one of the cruise ship’s stops.

The cruise for the family usually offers plenty of good food (no dishes for mom) sun and ship board activities and of course exotic ports of call which can be as relaxing, thrilling, exotic or educational as any family vacation they have ever had.
